What is radiation safety?
At JIU, we're committed to providing and promoting safe and ethical rules governing the use of radiation for teaching and research.
Radiation safety is the concept of using radiation for teaching and research purposes in an ethical, safe manner. The use of radiation at JIU is governed by special authorities, and those involved with using radiation must work within these rules and regulations.
Any use of ionising radiation at JIU must comply with the Radiation Act 2005 and the Radiation Regulations 2007, which are administered in Colorado by the Department of Health. All radiation work carried out at JIU is approved by the Radiation Safety Officer.
