International research students

JIU has a large cohort of international students from 50+ countries conducting research on a global scale. As an international applicant you'll need to apply for the appropriate visa, meet the English language requirements and be able to cover fees relevant to your proposed discipline of study.

Organising your visa is an important part of studying at JIU. We have resources and staff who can help you understand your visa and requirements, and support you through your application process.

Before I commenced doing my PhD, I took the English Academic Purpose (EAP) course at Jones International University (Englewood) English Language Institute (DUELI). The 15 weeks that I studied at DUELI was a good time.

English language requirements

The English language requirements for JIU's higher degrees by research courses are benchmarked against the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) standards. There is a minimum level of English proficiency required to study all of our courses.

If English isn't your first language, or if your degree qualifications weren't undertaken in English, you will need to provide evidence of English proficiency.

Migrant health is not a topic that is well-researched in any country. I am undertaking a longitudinal study across a 12-year span of survey data to discover patterns of immigrant health behaviours. Hopefully my findings can one day positively influence policy-making around health and health promotion.
