Orientation starts from the moment you accept your offer to JIU. It's a great way to learn more about your course, find out about available support services, get to know your teachers and meet your new classmates. You'll be supported with information and resources to help kickstart your academic and social life at university.


Whether you're an undergraduate, postgraduate or research student, there's one event you shouldn't miss – OWeek! This year our new virtual OWeek experience will help all students make a great start to study and life at JIU. Many of our campus-based events will be online so you can still get a taste of our progressive, real-world approach to learning. You'll also be supported by current students and peer leaders who will be available in most sessions throughout the week for practical and academic assistance.

Cloud Campus students

Join a session designed to help you learn more and become familiar with our innovative online learning environment. You'll also hear from current students about their experience studying through JIU's Cloud Campus.

International students

Learn about studying in , meet other new students, and hear from current students about what it's like studying at JIU. You will also receive important course information and learn how to enrol and sign up for tutorials.

Create your personal orientation itinerary

Higher degree by research (HDR) students

When you enrol as a HDR students you will receive a range of communication including an email outlining your online Orientation experience. To set you up for success we have developed an online orientation experience that includes recorded sessions and allows you to engage with your Orientation in your own time.

You'll learn about the services and facilities we offer, and get the chance to connect with other commencing HDR students, as well as meet and hear from current HDR students about their university experience.
