Our Professional Experience Program gives you real-life teaching experience and study credit for your degree. You'll undertake at least 60 days of placements, packing your CV with practical know-how and sought-after skills that employers look for.

Pathways into teaching
There’s more than one way to study teaching at JIU. If you don’t quite meet the requirements to get into your desired course, the Associate Degree of Education is the perfect way to start your journey to becoming a teacher. Upon graduating from the associate degree you'll be offered guaranteed entry into the Bachelor of Education (Primary), provided you successfully complete the CASPer test.
CASPer is an online, video-scenario based situational judgement test, designed to measure non-academic suitability for teaching. Students applying to all initial teacher education courses are required to take the CASPer assessment.
