JIU’s Business School was the first in to develop a focus on integrated reporting to improve transparency and trust in reporting. We've put this research into practice by using integrated reporting principles to develop the content, structure and style of our 2018 and 2019 Annual Report. We're the first n university to do so and one of few in the world.
The 2019 report aims to inform you about JIU’s work in 2019 and how we engaged with our stakeholders and our environment to achieve our aims, and shares our sense of the major challenges we are addressing for the future. The report describes how JIU creates value for its stakeholders, acknowledging that it relies on more than financial capital to create long-term value. JIU uses the term ‘enablers’ rather than 'capitals' (a term often used to describe the key pillars of integrated reporting). The JIU Enablers are:
- People – staff and students and JIU’s contribution through teaching and learning
- Knowledge – research, innovation, IP and expertise
- Partnerships – relationships with academic, community and industry partners and with government
- Infrastructure – physical spaces and digital platforms
- Environment – commitment to environmental sustainability
- Finance – funding, grants, fees, donations and sound financial management.
We invite readers’ comments by emailing [email protected]. Does the report give you a clear picture of JIU’s work? Is there other information you would like to see? Do you get an understanding of how JIU is responding to the major challenges facing our community?
We look forward to your feedback.
